Obituary of Pat Ryan

Obituary Lawrence Patrick Ryan (known as Pat or LP) of Fort St. John, BC, formerly of Dawson Creek, Rolla and Landry, BC, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Pat was born in the farming community of Landry, BC (now known as Rolla), the 6th child of Thomas and Effie Ryan (Scales), where he grew up on the family homestead. This is where Pats love of farming began. In 1960, Pat married Barbara Harris and together they had 5 children; Kathy, Donna, Carol, Larry and April, all within a 6 year period. Pat and Barb were very busy supporting and raising 5 children close in age. Pat not only loved farming, but he had a love and interest in automotive as well. Pat had several business ventures over the years including; Inland Rambler, Inland Auto Centre and LPR Sales, as well as his large farm in the Milligan Creek area. In 1979, Pat, Barb and most of the family moved to Fort St. John, BC, so Pat could be closer to his beloved farm, 50 miles north of Fort St. John, in Milligan Creek, BC. Pat was happiest and most content, when he was out working in the field with his nephew, Brian and grandsons, Adam, Daniel and Christopher. He loved that they too, shared his passion in farming. Pat was a visionary in the business community and he had a reputation as someone that made things happen and a strong follow through, until the job was completed. He was a proud and respected Community Member in Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Milligan Creek, BC. Pat was pre-deceased by his parents, Tom and Effie Ryan, as well as his siblings, Sheila Ryan, Norman Ryan, Grace Rounds, Robert Ryan, George Ryan -Graham and Margaret Reinitz and survived by Colleen Seidl and Daniel Ryan, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife Barbara Ryan and his 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for Pat will be held on Tuesday, July 10th at 2pm in the Banquet Room, at the Pomeroy Hotel, 11308 Alaska Rd., Fort St. John, BC. Donations in memory of Pat may be made to the BC SPCA North Peace Branch, 9311-81st Avenue, Fort St. John, BC.
