When I was a young kid, my Dad used to stop by the Texaco service station to say Hi to Walter. Unlike most adults, he used to greet me directly and make sure I had a place to sit and a coke in my hand while he and my dad shot the shit. Years later I left Fort St. John, but never forgot looking forward to trips to Texaco, the smell of grease and a cold Coke in my hand. I would always agree emphatically when, on the drive home, say "That Walter sure is a good guy". Rest in peace Walter. My love and condolences to his family.

Walter was a friend for many years and was a wonderful man. I put a nail in my eye which required my wife to drive me to Prince George for surgery. Walter was just the best. Don't know what else to say. I was privileged to get to know Walter as a customer of mine when I worked at Fort Motors in the early 80s and we became friends. Walt had an awesome sense of humor. He built his successful automotive repair business based on honesty and integrity. Walt was always there for you and just so much fun to be around.
