Obituary of Jeanne Senft

Obituary Jeanne was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Fred and Lillian Missel. When she was four years old Fred left the family and Jeanne and her older sister Evelyn were left to be raised by their mother. Eventually her cousin Esther joined them as her mother was Lillian's sister and she had died in childbirth. Jeanne met Vernol (Vern) Ezra Senft at a youth for Christ meeting and were married on October 19, 1956. Gail was born in 1957, Shelley in 1961, and Judy in 1965. Judy passed away at 5 days old from Cystic Fibrosis and complications. She was buried in Calgary, then a few months later the family moved to Fort St John in October 1965. Jeanne kept her house clean, was a great cook and baker, including decorating wedding cakes. She sewed lots of matching dresses for mother and daughters. When she got into a craft project there was sure to be lots of multiples around. Trouble is, she liked to keep them all. She loved cats. While still living at home a neighbour cat would come visit her as she would leave the patio door open and buy treats for it. It made her day when Kaylyn her granddaughter would bring up one of her cats to the care home to visit her. One of her so called passions was watching wrestling. When we would visit gramma in Edmonton, mom would make sure that we had a special outing to go with her to a Stampede Wrestling match. When we were old enough to decline going, she got Clint (her grandson) to go with her. One of his most memorable times with Grandma. Jeanne was very busy looking after Shelley, who died at 10 years old in February 1972 from Cystic Fibrosis. She was very lost after caring for Shelley 24/7. the family then adopted Carrie who was 7 months old at the time and who also had Cystic Fibrosis. Carrie had two daughters, Kaylyn and Kieryn, and struggled with her health and passed away in July 2006 at 33 years of age. Two months after Carrie passed away, Vern had a terrible accident and broke his neck in three places, making him an incomplete quadriplegic. The immense grief of loosing her three daughters and complete change of lifestyle brought on by Vern's accident really affected Jeanne's health. Through God's grace she was able to carry on. Jeanne lived at Peace Villa for the past year and really felt at home there. She made wonderful friends with the nurses, care aids and the residents. Jeanne leaves to Mourn her - Husband Vern of 62 years. Daughter Gail (Victor) Shopland. Grandchildren Carling Goertzen (Mike Seinen), Clinton Goertzen, Kaylyn Senft, Kieryn Senft. Sisters Evelyn, Esther and their families in Edmonton, Alberta Jeanne is predeceased by her daughters - Judy, Shelley and Carrie.
