Obituary of Eva Ergang

Obituary Eva Ergang (nee Paxman) July 15, 1933 — April 4, 2019 (age 85) was born in Hanna Alberta to Dr. John and Edith (nee Gamey) Paxman. Mom was raised on the family's farm northeast of Hanna. She lost her mother at the age of 6. Mom passed away April 4, 2019 in the Fort St. John Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers,Bill and Cliff, her sisters Bernice, Mary, Irene & Verna, and also her granddaughter, Randa. Mom lost her husband, Ray, in 1978 and daughter, Judy, to a drunk driver in 1980. Eva is survived by her sister, Carol Stulberg and her children, Gordon (Linda), Cathy (Rob), Debra (Rob), Keith (Shelley), David (Carmen) and her grandchildren. Uncle Leonard Smith (Aunt Mary's husband) paid for mom's nursing education. Mom worked in the hospital before us kids came along. After dad passed away, Mom went back to work. She tried a few things until her good friend, Yvonne Bennie (Rost), helped train mom in the flower shop. Mom eventually bought Buds n Bows and enjoyed her time at her shop. Mom liked it when customers and friends would stop and visit in her shop. Special thanks to Dr. Wright for being so good to mom over the years and Dr. Jameson for doing house calls. Thank you to Glenda Wright and Yvonne for their last visits with mom. Mom spent her last years taking it easy working 40 plus hours a week for Debra, sewing industrial oilfield blankets for Debra's shop. First at the shop, then a sewing machine was moved to mom's house. She enjoyed every minute of it and only complained when the shop was slow once in a while and she was not busy enough. In typical mom fashion she worked until Friday while not feeling well. It took a couple of days of talking to get her to go to the hospital. On Tuesday, she was admitted into the new hospital for the first time. She spent 3 days there before passing away. Years ago mom made arrangements to pay for her own funeral as she did not want to burden any of us. Mom's ashes will be with Dad and Judy. There will be no funeral to honour her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bert Ambrose Elementary School “Guardian Angel Program”, 9616-115 Avenue, Fort St. John, BC V1J 4M7, as mom liked helping those in need.
