Obituary of Rudolf Haerdi

Obituary It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolf Arnold Haerdi, of Fort St John, BC on May 19, 2019 at the age of 91. Rudy, was born in Holziken, Switzerland on November 26, 1927 to Frieda and Arnold Haerdi. He pursued his dream of becoming a farmer by immigrating to Canada in 1958. After marring Annemarie Suter in 1959 they purchased a farm in Baldonnel. They operated a dairy and grain farm for over 35 years. Rudy served his community and church throughout his life. In retirement he enjoyed travelling, reading books, volunteering with the therapeutic riding association and making willow chairs. He is survived by his children Theresa Nilsson of Bassano, Ab, Peter (Shannon) Haerdi of Port Coquitlam, BC, Kathy (Lindsay) Schafer of Baldonnel, BC, Joan (Brian) Beek of Prince George, BC, and Judy (Victor) April of Dawson Creek, BC, his sister, Esther Haerdi Switzerland and grandchildren Melissa (Brandon) Gruber, Amanda Nilsson, Grace Beek and Isabelle April. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 56 years, Annemarie, his parents Arnold and Frieda Haerdi, and son-in-law Jerry Nilsson. Rudy will be remembered for his quiet demeaner and work ethic. A special thank you to the staff of the Peace Villa Residential Care Home and Dr Thompson for their supportive care and kindness. Thank you as well to Pastor Kebede Dibaba for providing comfort and spiritual care to our father. Special thank you to Hamre's Funeral Chapel for their assistance. Celebration of life for Rudolf will be held Saturday, May 25 at 2:30 pm from the Peace Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made in memory of Rudolf to the charity of your choice.
