Obituary of Denis Vandal

Obituary Denis Vandal passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Fort St. John at the age of 79. He was born June 11, 1940 in Legal, Alberta to Aurora and Albert Vandal. Denis married his wife, Debra, on August 31, 1974. He worked as a loader operator for 50 years. Denis was dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, listening to stories and having a good laugh. He had a remarkable work ethic with a strong sense of responsibility and social etiquette. Denis hated being the centre of attention or putting people out. A patient man who arrived well before he needed too, would always be there to help others. Denis is survived by his loving wife; Debra, along with his children and their spouses; Shauna (Paul) Milne, Tony (Jamie) Vandal, Cory (Misty Gleave) Vandal. Denis leaves behind grandchildren; Adam & Tempe Milne, Marcus & Josh Vandal, and Addie Vandal & Kellan Brown. He also leaves 5 brothers and 4 sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Denis was predeceased by his Mother – Aurora, Father – Albert, and Brother – Bobby. Special thanks to the Adult Day Program, all the support staff and nurses at Northern Health, the nurses and doctors in emergency, and caring staff in palliative care. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in memory of Denis to the Alzheimer's Association or the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. A memorial service for Denis will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm from Hamre's Funeral Chapel with interment to follow after the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests that those attending the service wear blue jeans or casual clothes, including baseball caps. The family wishes to invite everyone to join them for a gathering at the family residence following the interment. Details are in the service tab.
