Montney Memories....Michelle and I became friends when my family moved to Montney because my dad wanted to own his own business and run the Montney General Store....needless to say I was a townie and had no idea what I was getting into when Michelle and I became friends riding the bus into school everyday. One day she says "come to my house after school and you can help me with the chores". Oh Wow....she tried to teach me to milk a cow and I was completely useless at that, which she pointed out right away but I wanted to try to learn as she was like a bigger sister to me showing me the ropes and teaching me along the way that hard work paid off. She would grab me after supper by ripping over to the store on her three wheeler and we would check the cows and fix fences....she showed me another side of life that I would never have known if it wasn't for her!!! I never could milk a cow but we would separate the milk and clean the separator until it gleamed...the work ethic Gary and Betty instilled in her passed on to me.....I practically lived at their house. She never could quite persuade me to become a farm girl but she never gave up on showing me how a farm was run!!! Then she met Lee and they got married and had the boys and then she showed me what it was like to be a mother....Michelle took on that job like every other job...she took it seriously and gave herself to Lee and the boys with everything she had. We haven't been that close the last few years as life gets busy and I haven't lived in Fort St. John for many years, but I will always regret not stopping in and surprising her with a visit as I feel the bond we formed as teenage girls in Montney bound us together, as friends forever!!! Lee, Dustin, Dwight and Tyson there are no words to express how shocked and sad I am for your loss....Michelle was one of a kind....when my dad passed away she was right there to help my family with anything we needed....please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything and please know my thoughts are with you and all the family!!! Condolences to all the family. I new Michelle as a student in school, met her parents some years later on a trip between Vancouver Island and Prince Rupert. Worked with both of her sons in school, she bought our old house trailer at one time, my goodness how our paths have crossed over the years. She was definitely a character and will be greatly missed.

Betty and Gary, Lee and family - our hearts break for you. I know what a close family you are and have enjoyed seeing so many photos of time spent together there and on vacation. You have built a wonderful memory bank and I hope that will ease the pain over time. I have also enjoyed Michelle's facebook postings and frequently chatting with her there. I loved to tease her about whether her Christmas shopping was done by August (which it seemed to be) and was always amazed at her Christmas decor - especially those snowmen. That inside tree decorated as a snowman is so incredible. I think she knit most of it herself. Her garden was equally amazing and she clearly enjoyed cooking and baking just like her Mom. The dedication she was showing while she cared for her grandson was so heart warming and my heart goes out to him and the other grandchildren.
