Obituary of Rod Munro

Obituary Roderick James Munro, April 9, 1952 – November 3, 2020 Beloved brother to Janet (Ron) Mitchell. Doting uncle to Kenneth (Britt Hanson) Mitchell and Kirstie (Adam) McAinsh. Loving Great Uncle to Braydon Hanson, Klaire and Danna Mitchell. Nephew to Joan McGinnis, Stan and Phil Large. Cousin to many. Rod was born in Fort St John to Jim and Hilda Munro on April 9, 1952, the oldest of three children. He attended Central Elementary and Bert Bowes Junior High. After the family moved to South Taylor in 1967, he continued his education in Dawson Creek at Frank Ross Jr. High and South Peace Sr. Secondary. Rod’s first job was at Fells Sawmill in Charlie Lake. He went on to work at Peacewoods in Taylor, Canfor Grande Prairie and Department of Highways in Fort St. John. When his parents grew elderly and need extra care, he moved back home and took on the role of caretaker which he performed to perfection, enabling his parents to stay at the family home for their declining years. Rod loved his family and always was an active participant in his nephews and nieces lives. Ken and Kirstie have fond memories of a childhood filled with ball games, swimming, fort building and card games with Uncle Rod. Rod always kept in touch with extended family and enjoyed the family gatherings as well as visits from Uncles and cousins. He left a legacy of love and loyalty that will always be remembered. Rod will be reunited with his parents James and Hilda Munro, brother Kenneth Munro. Uncles Harold, Jim, Owen, Bob and Ken Large. Cousins Curtis, Kyle and Dennis Large. He will be laid to rest in the Taylor Cemetery. Always loved, always remembered. Services
