Obituary Myrna Van Damme October 7, 1956–April 24, 2021 With sadness the family of Myrna Van Damme announces her death at the age of 64. She died on April 24, 2021 in Fort St. John, after a short battle with cancer. Growing up, Myrna was an honours student and a talented artist. After graduation, she married Roy, and had a child, Kelly. They moved from Manitoba to Fort St. John in the early ‘80s. Myrna worked as a hairstylist at Aristo-Cut for 13 years, with many loyal customers. She switched to retail, working at Zellers, then Rona for a combined 25 years as a merchandiser and sales associate. She liked to stay busy and wasn’t interested in retiring. When she wasn’t working, Myrna enjoyed gardening and reading. She was very selective about authors, and would rather re-read a favourite book than waste time on a badly-written one. Myrna had a quirky sense of humour, but only those close to her knew that side of her. She was shy, and never wanted to be the centre of attention. Myrna didn’t know how smart and beautiful she was, but everyone else did. Myrna and Roy visited family most summers. She felt close to her siblings even after she moved away, and she was the best mom anyone could hope for. Myrna leaves to mourn her husband Roy, daughter Kelly (Kent), step-grandson Jordan; step-mother Alma; siblings Mike (Susan), Dale, Kevin (Monica), Marnie (Ryan), Corey, Laurie (Kevin); step-siblings Dennis (Brenda), Lorraine (Laurie) and Candace (Tom); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Myrna was predeceased by her father George, mother Barbara and step-brother Boyd. A family memorial service will follow at a later date in Manitoba. Donations in Myrna’s name may be made to the North Peace SPCA. Her passing leaves an empty space in our lives. Services
