Obituary of Donald Arthur Harsch

Obituary In Loving Memory of Donald Arthur Harsch Nov 13, 1940 - May 2, 2021 (80 years) Don was born in Drumheller, AB on November 13, 1940. He was raised in Craigmyle, AB and lived life on the farm, until the family decided to move to Port Alberni, BC in 1956. At the age of 16, Don got hired on at the Plywood's and continued working there 38 years, until his retirement in 1994. Don met Sharon in 1960 and they decided to marry in the Summer of 1962. Shortly after marrying, they started their family and raised 4 wonderful children. In 2004, they made the decision to move North to Fort St. John, where he lived happily until his passing. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, 10 Pin Bowling, playing cards, watching any and all sports on TV (the remote was never far from his hand). He also was very talented with woodworking, making all sorts of planters and birdhouses, that he was very proud of. He also had a green thumb and loved planting and growing his own vegetable garden. Most of all, he loved spending time at the casino playing the slot games. He was usually fairly lucky, if not winning he was breaking even. If you were ever looking for him, he would either be out at Debbie's house working in the garage building something or if that failed, you would spot his car in the Casino Parking Lot. Don loved the trips to Puerto Vallarta with family and was looking forward to going back, now he can be there anytime he wishes. Don was a fun, loving, caring, helpful man and will be missed by everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sharon, of 59 years. He will also be missed by his children: Debbie (Mike) Steck, Donna (John) Cassidy, David (Jenny/Jann) Harsch, Kim (Dean) Newhook. Grandchildren: Chad, Crystal, Hayden, Destiny, Saraiah, Kamren, Roxanna, Amanda & Alida along with 10 Great Grand Children. Bonus kids: Colin & Frances Goyetche & let's not forget his beloved cat Jasper. Sister In-law Carol Harsch , Brother In-law Jim Passmore, sister In-law Linda Passmore and Brother In-law Dick Murdoch. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. Donald was predeceased by his parents: Arthur and Elsie Harsch, Parent's In-law: Red and Marg Passmore, brother: Gordon Harsch & sister In-law June Murdoch A service will be held on Vancouver Island at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in memory of Don to the local Cancer Society or Mazankowski Heart Institute Alberta. Services
