Obituary of Jacqueline Clara Ferris

Obituary Ferris, Jacqueline Clara Jacqueline Clara Ferris (Moffat) passed away quietly on August 17, 2021 in Westbank, B.C. at the age of 95 years young. She is survived by Alan (Christine) Ferris, Linda Vopicka, Michael (Donna) Ferris & Jayne (Keith) Fosbery. 10 grandchildren, Alanna, Brad, Shane, Reilly, Kori-Ann, Tara, Jenell, Travis, Kelly & Jarred. 10 great grandchildren and another on the way. Many more extended family far and wide. Jacqueline Clara Moffat was born in Quesnel, B.C. on June 20th, 1926 to John (Jack) and Clara (Crosina) Moffat of Barkerville, B.C. Her grandparents on both sides of the family ran “Road Houses” at Alexandria & 153 mile house. Her formative years were in and around Wells & Barkerville, B.C. before moving south to Abbotsford and Mission graduating from Phillip Sheffield High before heading to Los Angeles to attend Wolfe School of Costume Design. She returned to B.C. setting up a dress design store front in Vancouver, B.C. She met the love of her life Vernon Clarke Ferris when her mom did a little matchmaking. They were married on her birthday during the Fraser River Flood of 1948. The young couple moved to Prince George, Terrace and finally settled in Fort St. John to help run the Fort Hotel with her parents. Jackie and Vern were pioneers of the north, members of many clubs as volunteers and Vern’s love for the Fort St. John Flyers. They retired to Westbank, B.C.in 1978, on the canal, where Vern always had a boat ready for a ride around the Okanangan lake. They missed the Peace Country but never the snow and cold. Their grandchildren were the center of their world while having visits. They loved to travel and enjoy the great outdoors. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon Ferris, son in law Jerry Vopicka, her dad Jack Moffat, Mother Clara (Crosina) Moffat, Brother James O Moffat.
