Tom Dunn posted a condolence

I am sure there are no words I can say to express how the Braun Family are feeling. I will only say that the Dunn Family feel like we have not only lost a close and dear friend, but that we have lost a friend whom we considered part of our family also.Henry and Jackie have become mine and Normas closest friends over the last 40+ years, and Ben has been there every step of the way. When our family had the Red Angus cattle operation we always looked forward to Ben running the sorting pens. He never complained or got mad even with two or three of us yelling sorting instructions at him. I dont think he ever missed a year and I would always value his opinion on culling cows or calves.Yes Ben, you will be missed around the Dunn Farm and will not be forgotten soon. Both my daughters Shellie and Ami-jo and Normas daughter Melissa will carry fond memories of Ben.Ben also watch Gracie and Mollie, Shellies daughters grow from birth and will be remembered for his quiet but helpful influential presence.I know Henry will miss his brother, as Ben was a constant companion at the farm, whether it was helping repair equipment, working the fields, or just showing up for one of Jackies great meals. We all know he had a great memory and many times Henry would rely on him to remember where Henry himself had placed or stored a tool, or some small piece of equipment - in some ways he knew the farm better than Henry or myself. Most of all I will miss Ben for the dozens of times that Henry, myself and Ben would tell stories, jokes or simply tease each other in friendly banter and then laugh until we had joyful tears. Those were times that only good friends could have.I am not sure where we go when we pass, but I know I will look for Ben when I get there and God willing both Henry and I will once again have those special times.Ben you are gone but you will not be forgotten in the Dunn home.

My sincere condolences to all of Ben's family. I met Ben through visits at the Maclean home. He was such a happy guy, when you met him downtown he was always so friendly. I can certainly see why he would leave a big whole in your family. Our lives are certainly richer for knowing Ben. RIP

Benny you will be so missed by everyone who knew and loved you. You came into the Maclean family hearts when your mom was ill in hospital in 2012 and she shared a room with our mom for many months. I met you on the morning shift with your sister Anna. We would all arrive together and you brought us all black coffee from McDonalds and I would bring both our mommas fresh breakfast from home. You were so kind and loving , smiling , laughing and bringing so much joy to a stressful and sad time for our families. Over many months we were so fortunate to get to know your wonderful family. Happily our momma bear healed and went home and so sadly your momma bear went to heaven. That , I know was a very difficult time for your family to lose such a loving matriarch . Thankfully over the next months and years to come you never left our mom and family. You and your brother Dick were frequent flyers out at our moms home and became part of our family . You were like adopted sons and were so incredibly loyal visiting mom and our family , you would come sit with her when she was so lonely at home and in the hospital so many times. Your joyful warm heart Benny always brought a bright light and put a smile on everyones face. One memory that my mother, Irene treasured was when she was making homemade bread one day in her late 90's , She was at home, was tired, frail, and just could not beat her bread dough up by hand as she was so weak. Benny just happened to come for a visit at that time , and helped her knead her dough with his big strong muscles, cleaned up all the mess and sat and rubbed by moms back as she was having so much pain. They both always loved that story.Benny would always text me or call me in Calgary and let me know what was happening up north to help me stay connected to home over the years. He loved blue grass gospel music and when I was homesick he would sing me songs over the phone which I Ioved. My favourite will always be " Mother I give you my crown" The first time I had ever heard that song was when Henry sang it to his mom at her bedside while in hospital. I knew it meant a lot to Benny as he would get choked up singing it to me. He would always answer his phone " How are you sister?" and I would always reply ' How are you brother ?" then we would both laugh !!! He loved McDonalds and so did I, so whenever I was home we would frequent it for our visits. We had a special connection. I will miss my friend , his warm loving hugs, his interest in our families lives, his huge laughs, his kind and caring soul. A huge hole has been left in my heart. On behalf of my brother Ian MacLean , myself Judy , the entire MacLean family and close friends of our family who knew and got to know Benny over the years we send our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Braun family for this huge and very sad loss. Benny carried deep faith in God and we all know he is now in the loving arms of his Mother and Father reunited in heaven . He will now be our angel watching over us, bringing us smiles when we need them . Benny's gift that he left us all will be to keep life simple, live in the moment , and just be happy .Forever in my heart Benny, love you to the moon and back , your friend Judy Bishop
