Obituary of Wanda Gay Loewen

Obituary Wanda Gay Loewen 1956 - 2021 Wanda Loewen passed away after a battle with cancer, on November 8, 2021 in Fort St. John Hospital at the age of 65, long time resident of Rose Prairie, BC. She was born in Fort St. John, BC on October 17, 1956 to Vernor (Booey) Wollen and Olwyn (Scotty) Wollen. She was the fourth child of four. Wanda lived in and around Fort St. John, then moved to Buick (The Farm) in 1964. She married Gary Loewen in 1974 and together they lived in Peejay until 1976. It was after that they made their permanent home in Rose Prairie. Wanda attended Central Elementary for grades 1 and 2, Mile 18 School for grades 3 through 8, Bert Bowes for grade 9 and finally North Peace High School for grades 10 through 12. She went to the dorm for grades 9 & 10 and lived with her grandparents for grades 11 & 12. Wanda worked for Curtis Hoover (machine shop) in the office. She also drove school bus for Miro Fibich and worked on the farm looking after cows and managing the bookeeping. Wanda enjoyed riding horses. She played ball and hockey, played the omnichord for dances, and in free time she crocheted and knitted. One of her favorite things was watching her family members doing anything they loved to do. Wanda was a member of the Buick Creek Community Club and the Birthday Club. Wanda was predeceased by her parents Vernor and Olwyn Wollen. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Loewen; son Shawn (Candace); daughter Darla (Wilfred); grandchildren Reid, Laci, Gage and Kelsey; as well as sisters, a brother, nieces and nephews. Wanda was a very loving, welcoming, selfless, generous, determined, big hearted person with a quick sense of humour and a sarcastic wit. She was a great cook and had a strong sense of family! Wanda will be sorely missed by all those who loved her.
