Obituary of Patrick Samuel McCartney

Obituary It is with a heavy heart as we put ink to paper and share that Patrick Samuel McCartney left us November 15, 2021 after a short battle with aspirated pneumonia. Pat was born the fourth son of Lawrence and Violet McCartney, on May 12,1964. He lived a quiet life on the acreage of his birth in Fort St. John, BC. My first memory of Pat is of him trying to rescue me after I emptied a salt shaker in my crib. He was struggling to clean it up when Mom found us, thus starting our friendship. Pat was a loyal friend and brother. He never took sides and kept an even and steady pace forward. Pat represented the 'good son' as he was always there for our mother. He was an easy going man who taught many of us patience through example. Pat was known for his love of trucks, motorbikes, boats, quads, sleds - his many 'toys'. He would often go with his brothers and their children on hunting and fishing trips. Pat also went on many solo excursions to the Northwest Territories or to the Liard Hot Springs. We will all miss him greatly; Pat you left us too soon. Your surviving family will miss you even more but we will imagine in our hearts that you have only gone on another solo expedition, and that we will meet up with you again one day. On that day, we will share our tales of adventure over a rum or a coffee. Until we meet again, Pat know that you will continue to live in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in Pat's name to a charity of your choice. A better expression would be to attend a poker run or enjoy a day with friends and family doing something you love. As you do, think of Pat as the wind of the open road hits your leathers and be thankful that you were privileged to have known such a great man. Services
