Ronald G. Mawhinney November 11, 1938 — November 20, 2021
Ron was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 11, 1938. As a teen he grew up in Vancouver, B.C. At age 18 he accepted the Lord Jesus as his saviour and never strayed from his increasing faith in God. He served as a Lieutenant in the Salvation Army in Ontario for a while and then joined the Pentecostal movement. He was the adult Bible School leader for several years in Gospel Tabernacle and later in Evangel Chapel. He also led a Bible Study group in the Culture Centre for seven years.
Ron moved to Fort St. John in 1962 employed with Canadian Pacific Airlines and retired in 1987, during which time he was station manager in Fort Nelson for two
years. In 1963 Ron married Evelyn Boichuk.
Ron was a member of Portage Mountain Yacht Club and served as Commodore for about 10 years.
The Mawhinneys traveled to Jamaica, Hawaii, and also spent a month in Russia and the Ukraine. They lived one year in Germany and toured neighboring countries and the United Kingdom.
In 1981 Ron and Evelyn started the Christian Life Academy. They financed the purchase of the curriculum study materials for 32 students for the first year of
operation and continued being involved for 9 more years.
Ron is sadly missed by Evelyn, his wife of 58 years, his daughter Esther, son in law Dave, and grandchildren Kasia and Kiefer.
