Obituary of David George Aylward
Obituary
Dave Aylward was born in Sussex, New Brunswick on February 21st, 1951. He was the 10th of 17 children had by Louis and Marguerite. He was also the last one born in Sussex before the family moved to Prince Edward Island where the remaining 7 siblings were born. He spent the first eight or so years there on Covehead Road, before the family decided to move to Montreal. There he spent many years, grew up, got married and had kids of his own.
Throughout his years in Montreal, Dave found himself to become a jack of all trades. He was good with his hands, and there wasn't many challenges he could not overcome. He did everything from truck driver to appliance repair. He even painted a couple of real nice paintings with those hands.
In 1997, grown well tired of the ongoing language barriers in Quebec, Dave decided to make some big changes. He gave away most all his possessions, drove to PEI to give his sister his truck and hitch hiked across Canada and landed in British Columbia. After a few months in the Okanagan Area, he headed north to visit his brothers in Fort St John. He decided to give Taxi Driving a try and he never looked back. He went on to drive until he no longer could.
Dave enjoyed working, golfing and camping until his health started to decline, and was no longer able to do those things. He had been battling a hard battle with COPD and did finally succumb to the disease on December 17th, 2021. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him, and those who never got the chance to say goodbye.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Cheryl(Bertrand) and sisters, Loreen, Carolyn, and Connie. He is survived by his brothers Gary, Lou, Bill, Len, Peter and Jayme. By sisters Susan, Bonnie, Maddy, Kathy, Lucinda, Valerie and Lynne. By children Scott, Lance and Isabelle. By Grandchildren Danny, Scotty, Brandon, Maria, Melina, Lance, Alexandre, Samuel, Anakim and Emmylou. And by his great grandchildren Emma and Abby.
