Obituary of Ronald Jay Southwick

Obituary Ron was born November 30, 1957 in Fort St John, BC. He was the fourth son of Harvey (Bud) and Lila Southwick. Ron started school in Charlie Lake, and after a few years the family moved to Mile 442 where Bud owned a hunting territory. This is where Ron’s love of the north began. In his early adult years he started his life long career in highway and road maintenance at Muncho Lake, where he met Leslie. They started their family moving between Fort Nelson, Toad River and Dawson Creek over numerous years until he moved the family back to Fort Nelson in 2005. Ron enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family, especially summers spent with his grandsons; Keaton and Jordan. Ron also loved life around a campfire listening to music and playing the spoons. He had a strong passion for the motorhome and wherever it took him and Leslie. Ron’s love of camping lead them back to Mile 442 in 2010, when he purchased property here with close friends. Ron leaves to mourn his wife Leslie, sons Quentin and Brennen (Kaylin), grandsons Keaton and Jordan, Brothers Blaine, Rocky and Glen, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. Ron was predeceased by his mother Lila in 1993, his father Harvey (Bud) in 1996, his nephew Brenton in 1996 and brother Denis in 2006. Ron passed peacefully on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 in Fort Nelson, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ronald to the Fort Nelson Seniors Society - Click here to donate. Ron loved life and having a good time was always a top priority. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. “God Saw You Getting Tired, Though It Wasn't Meant To Be, So He Put His Arms Around You And Whispered Come With Me... Your Golden Heart Stopped Beating, Your Working Hands At Rest, God Broke Our Hearts To Prove To Us He Only Takes The Best.” ‐ Kelly Cains Services Memorial Service Monday March 7, 2022 1:00 PM Northern Rockies Rec Centre 5500 Alaska Highway Fort Nelson, BC V0C1R0
