Obituary of Hubert Baumeister

Obituary Hubert Baumeister was born in Duisburg Germany on May 10th, 1939 to parents Henriette and Walter Baumeister and was an only child. At age 14 Hubert began his apprenticeship as a bricklayer, and worked as a construction worker on many interesting projects, including 100m tall industrial chimneys, huge apartment blocks and bridges. In his 20's for a change of pace he began to drive truck and shortly thereafter met his future wife Irmgard. Hubert went back to bricklaying and attended night school to attain his engineering degree. Hubert and Irma were married on April 29th, 1965. As Hubert and Irma had applied for immigration to Canada and were accepted shortly before his final exam, he never achieved certification as an engineer. Hubert, Irma and their son Frank landed in Calgary, Alberta on April 26th 1966, where they lived for two years, experiencing many adventures in a new country, knowing only 1 word of english..."Kanada". Hubert worked as a bricklayer during those two years and improved his skills and became a forman. In February of 1967, they welcomed their youngest son into the world, and began to think about buying into the company for whom he worked. In April of 1968, they moved to Fort St. John after having read an ad for Lux Masonry, looking for bricklayers. They agreed to stay for one year... and never left. Hubert worked for Lux for a while and then formed his own company which he successfully operated for many years. Along with a masonry company Hubert and Irma owned a motel, farmed and had logging trucks. Hubert loved to travel and in later years he and Irma enjoyed going to Arizona during the winter and made many good friends there. Hubert is survived by his wife Irma, of 57 years, son Frank, grandson David, son Dean (Brenda), granddaughter Melissa (Logan), great grandson Everett, and Grandson Christopher (Nakisha). Hubert was an amazing husband, father, friend and mentor. He will be missed by many.
