I was also a Biology student of Ms Dodd, and I was her house cleaner for awhile as well. She was an amazing woman and I loved her Bio classes, but most of all I loved borrowing books. So many many books, all interesting, various topics and well loved. I also sat behind her in community choir, she had a lovely voice and could sight read music, which is something I greatly admired. Jenny was her own person and such an inspiration. I will miss our FSJ visits. Until we meet again. (Grace, so true. she often ate while we were bisecting something stinky and messy - kind of unforgettable.)

My condolences to you, Brendan. I knew your mom for a very long time. She was a good friend and although I had lost touch with her I often think of the good times we had together.

I am very sorry to hear of "Ms. Dodd's" passing! I had the pleasure of having her as my Grade 12 Biology teacher at NPSS in 1977. I always remembered her as a teacher who had a passion for what she taught. She expected the best of us while also wanting the best for us! I hadn't seen her for many, many years, decades actually and only a few years ago, ran into her at the Totem Mall. I said "Hi" and asked "Ms. Dodd"? She said yes and that while I looked familiar, she couldn't recall my name which wasn't unusual for someone who had taught perhaps thousands of students over her long career. When I told her my name, she stated "yes, I remember you" and we proceeded to have a lovely chat, a good 30 minutes or so! She talked about a science fair project that I had made and how much the kids loved it. She told me that my project had remained at the high school for many years after I graduated. Funny thing is, I had forgotten about my project but she hadn't forgot about it or the fact that I had made it over 40 years ago! I will always remember that last chat with a fine lady who both remembered me and remind me of my accomplishments! My condolences to her family and friends! May she Rest in Peace!

I had the privilege of being a student of Dr. Dodd at NPSS in the late 90s (chemistry, biology). I always enjoyed her confidence, honesty and humour. I felt like she saw me, recognized my efforts and entertained my curiosity. I am now a high school math and science teacher and there are definitely elements of how I teach and interact with my students that are reminiscent of Dr. Dodd. Her memory lives on in my classroom. I am sorry to hear of her passing and my condolences go out to her family and friends.

I always enjoyed Jenny's enthusiasm for the Mills cattle drives from the time I was a teenager. Don't forget her love of Scottish dancing, too. Brendan, she raised you up good!

Condolences to the Dodd family. I felt privileged to have Ms. Dodd as a teacher 50 yrs. ago! My main memory is the respect she had from students. She would enter the class after we were in and then wed all stand to say Good Morning Ms. Dodd. I also became a teacher and would periodically recall Ms. Dodd and her teaching techniques and the morning greeting!

I worked at Cibc, Jenny was always a happy person she would always have smile . She always talked about her grandson that was coming and she was so happy to be having her first grandchild , I remember the day she found out and she was coming to the bank and I think she stopped and told everyone that she was becoming a grandmother for the first time..

Our hearts go out to you Brendan and AlissaCondolences to Jennifer's brother David and family as well.Jennifer was a remarkable woman, strong, independent, a true intellectual who was as broad minded as they come. Equally at home in a university setting or hunting moose in the wilderness. She crossed the continent, toddler in tow, teaching and earning a Master's degree and achieving a Phd and eventually returning to her beloved Peace River country. Our family first met her through Brendan and one of our sons attending Tae Kwon Do together and they have been part of our family in the 30 0dd years since. What an amazing person, gifted teacher, horticulturist, horsewoman, talented stained glass artist....she wasn't afraid to try anything and enthusiastically contributed and participated in the communities she graced. Our lives were definitely enriched by having known her and we will miss her ( and her wit ) so much.Until we meet again dear friend...

I came to Fort St. John in the fall of 1973 for only two years. I met Jenny at North Peace that year and we became good friends. That first year she helped me attain my lifelong desire to own a horse. The following spring she took me on a round-up up the highway at the Mills ranch and at the end of that school year she organised a week long horseback trip along the Red Willow River in the One Island Lake area. We had several other adventures together and remained life long friends while she pursued motherhood, a Masters in Education at Oregon University and her Doctorate at Memorial university in Newfoundland. Although Jenny's life journey often took her away from the Peace country she frequently came back to renew friendships. After completing her Doctorate and engaging in some post secondary instruction to teachers on how to teach science, Jenny returned to School District 60 to share her talents and teach at an elementary school. Eventually she got lured back to teach Biology at North Peace. When Jenny retired, she moved to Victoria to enjoy some of the milder weather, but eventually came back to Fort st. John to be close to her son Brendan. For the past several years Jenny had a very active social life until Rheumatoid Arthritis started to crimp her style but we continued to go for short walks with our dogs and every Sunday we would have a group dinner at my house and invite other friends to come. Jenny has been a very important part of my life over the years and I miss her greatly.

I have lost a very good friend. I first met Jenny in 1969, and we shared the same sense of humour and a lot of the same interests. Horseback riding, gardening, art, just to name a few. Dr. Dodd did the best she could at everything she did, and the Devil take the hindmost, she was always "to thine own self be true". I will miss her.

So sorry to hear about "Ms. Dodd"'s passing. She was one of my very favourite teachers in high school. Loved her biology class and her wicked sense of humour. Learned a few life lessons in her class - she wasn't one to pull punches. I will always remember how she could hold a scalpel in one hand dissecting a frog while eating a ice cream snack with the other hand. I always respected her forthright attitude. Rest easy Ms. Dodd.

So sad, a very fine lady that I met shortly after moving to FSJ in late 70s. She was daughter of Drs Dodd...both of her parents were doctors.
