Obituary of Horst and Ellen Schuett

Obituary Horst Heinz Schuett October 17, 1931 - January 20, 2022 Horst is survived by his son Hartwig (Uta) along with granddaughters Meret and Mailin. Son Carsten (Andrea), along with grandsons Timothy and Ronnie (Camilla), granddaughter Jennifer, great-granddaughters Olivia, Ariel, and Scarlett. Horst was predeceased by Ellen, his wife of 62 years, and his parents, Walter and Hertha Schuett. Horst was born in Lübeck, Germany. After he married Ellen, the two build up their own business in establishing a hotel close by in Travemünde at the Baltic Sea. After selling their business, they immigrated to Canada in 1987 and farmed in the Montney area. He enjoyed sailing in his younger years and was several time German Champion in the 20m² Racing Boat Class. Horst greatly enjoyed nature and was a passionate hunter, exchanging hunting stories with his friends until the end of his life. He always had to help in his wife's garden while enjoying her fabulous cooking. Because of health reasons they sold their farm in 2014 and moved to town. Ellen Emma Maria Schuett July 02 1931 - November 17 2021 Ellen will be missed by her husband Horst of 62 years, son; Hartwig (Uta) along with granddaughters; Meret and Mailin, son Carsten (Andrea) along with grandsons; Timothy and Ronnie (Camilla), granddaughter Jennifer, and great granddaughters; Olivia, Ariel and Scarlett. Ellen was predeceased by her parents Julius and Maria Osterhoff, and her brothers Werner and Uwe. Ellen was born in Cleverbrück Germany on July 2, 1931. After she married Horst, the two built up their own business in establishing a hotel close to Travemünde at the Baltic Sea. After selling their business, they immigrated to Canada in 1987 and farmed in the Montney area. Ellen enjoyed the wildlife around her and was an avid birdwatcher. Her vegetable garden and abundance of flowerbeds gave her great joy. Cooking, baking, square dancing and having the neighbors and friends over for playing cards fulfilled her together with her love for traveling and the arts. In 2014, because of health reasons they sold their farm and moved into Fort St. John where she spent her time until her passing. Ellen took great interest in the history of the Peace and would take time to participate in annual meetings.
