Obituary of Tessie "Mama" Pagatpatan

Obituary It is with the saddest regret that we announce the death of Teresita Baligad Pagatpatan, lovingly known as “Mama Tess”. She passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022. Mama Tess had five brothers and two sisters and will be lovingly remembered by her only living sister. She worked as a midwife in the Philippines and migrated to Canada in 1967. She was the first Filipino to come to Fort St. John, working as an LPN in the maternity ward at Fort St. John General Hospital until 1997. She retired happily knowing she was able to help many young mothers. Mama Tess was the epitome of giving and sacrificed her own needs to bring her family from the Philippines to Canada while also helping those in the Philippines that are still there. She ensured that her family was loved, cared for and able to build their own lives in Canada and the Philippines. She will be loved and missed by three generations of nieces and nephews and the many lives she touched. Viewing will be held at Hamre’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 6-9pm. Funeral services will be held at Church of the Resurrection on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:00 am. Refreshments to follow.
