In Loving Memory of Harry John Ross Turriff
May 21, 1951 – September 2, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Harry John Ross Turriff. Harry was born in Newmarket, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents John and Norma Turriff. Harry was the husband of Sheila (nee Bougourd) for 48 years. Father of Shannon (Wade) and Kimberly (Jerrick) and devoted grandfather to Treyden, Mason, Kyren, Avery and Landon. He was a loyal man who gave his heart, soul and inspiration to his family.
Harry had a lifelong passion for golf and had a rewarding career as a Golf Professional. He became a member of the PGA of Canada on March 1, 1974 and became a Class A Member on February 9, 1978. Harry took great pride in becoming a Life Member of the PGA on January 1, 2018. Throughout his career he met many lifelong friends and enjoyed mentoring new golf professionals. He was fortunate to have a great group of friends that went on several golf trips around the world. Harry played such a supportive and influential role in the lives and careers of those whom he worked with.
Family was always the most important thing to Harry. Sheila was not only the love of Harry’s life, but his best friend and soulmate. He was an attentive husband and made sure a day did not go by that Sheila did not feel loved and appreciated. Harry was a proud father and would do anything for his daughters. Shannon and Kimberly knew he was always there for them and they were always his little girls no matter how old they got. Once his grandchildren were born, he embraced the role of Papa so naturally. Much like he did for his daughters, Harry never missed anything his grandchildren did. Whether it was sports, school events or music recitals, Harry would be found in the stands cheering on his beloved grandkids. Harry always enjoyed taking his grandchildren golfing, creating memories that will last a lifetime. His family is so grateful for the sacrifices he made to ensure they had the best life. Their world has forever changed now that their biggest supporter is gone, but they are so blessed to have experienced his love.
Harry was known for his great sense of humor and was always sharing his love and laughter with those around him. Although he is gone too soon, those he touched are thankful they got to experience his unconditional love. A piece of them is forever gone, but his legacy of showing us what real love is will last forever.
