Obituary of Kagan Andrew Hynes
Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Kagan Andrew Hynes announce his passing at age 27 on Aug 11, 2023, at the Victoria General Hospital in Victoria BC.
Kagan was born to Kerri Parker (Matheson) and John (Jack) David Hynes in Fort St John BC on August 7, 1996, and spent most of his life in Fort St. John. As a young child he loved sports and played hockey, soccer, baseball and spent several years in Tai Kwon Do. When he was a teenager, Kagan worked as an electrical apprentice with his dad and became a journeyman at age 21. Kagan recently moved to the Victoria area and began working as a carpenter/framer, where after only one year, became the foreman of his crew. His boss said, “He may have been a good electrician, but he was born to be a framer.” Working with any tools made Kagan happy, especially when he could work on the oldest beater truck he could find. Music filled most of his day, listening to everything from old country tunes to pop music. More than anything, Kagan loved his beautiful daughters, Emma and Londyn, and enjoyed spending time playing and watching them grow.
Kagan had love and kindness in his heart, the devil in his eye, and a love for adventure.
Kagan is survived by his daughters Emma Elaine Hynes (5) and her mom Ashley Freeman of Fort St. John, Londyn May Hynes (2) and her mom Autumn Quintal of Fort St. John. His parents Jack and Darci Hynes of Fort St. John, Kerri and David Parker of Victoria, and Stepdad Joey Hicks or Fort St. John. Brothers Brian Matheson of Victoria, Daylan (Marina) Roberts and Kohl Hynes both of Fort St. John. Grandparents Brian Matheson of Barass Corner NS, Elizabeth (Betsy) Hynes and Gail Weber of Fort St. John. Kagan was predeceased by his grandmother Elaine Melnick (Beaton), and grandfathers David Hynes, Johnny Allison and Ken Weber. Kagan was loved and will be missed by all his aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as so many more extended family and friends that he built close relationships with.
When Kagan was 20, he decided to sign his organ donor card and in doing so, was able to give hope to 5 people and their families. Please consider doing the same in Kagan’s honor and more importantly, have this conversation with your loved ones as it is more significant than just a signature.
