Lorna Stewart
1936 - 2024
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Lorna Stewart on May 31, 2024 in Fort Nelson.
Lorna was born January 9, 1936 on the farm homestead close to Earl Grey, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of 14 children and started school in Lintlaw, Saskatchewan. Family moved with the youngest children to Aldregrove, British Columbia in 1948 by train.
Lorna started work at an early age picking raspberries and dishwashing. Later working as a switch board operator, a clerk in many hardware or cornerstores, a plumbing shop, managed apartment buildings and janitorial work and before retirement, owning her own janitorial business.
Lorna was well known as the "Avon Lady" in Fort Nelson. Lorna moved a lot over the years, but Fort Nelson was home to her.
There will be a memorial graveside for Lorna on Thursday, June 6 at 1:00 pm at the Fort Nelson Cemetery.
