Obituary of Annie Loewen

Annie Loewen was born to John & Anna Loeppky on June 15, 1933.  She grew up in Neuhorst, SK spending her early years helping her parents with their store.  She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in the spring of 1957 in Neuanlage, SK by Bishop Abraham Loewen, who would later become her father-in-law.  She married the love of her life, Henry Loewen, in Neuhorst, SK on November 3, 1957.  They were married 66 years, 6 months, and 15 days, in which time they were blessed with 8 children.

They lived in Saskatoon for the first few years, then moved to logging camps in the Burns Lake area.  They moved to Prespatou in the spring of 1962 and started farming, dealing with mud, mosquitos, bears, and sweat from hard work, but made many memories while continuing to raise their family.  They never looked back and never regretted making this move.

Mom was a social butterfly, always taking time to talk to anyone, age never being an issue.  She always found the right words to make evryone laugh, right till the very end.  Her positive personality was contagious and uplifting to all around her.  She worked hard on the farm, always willing to help keep it going, from gardening (if she had to) to hauling cattle, and still finding time to feed her family.

Mom struggled for many years with Parkinsons and Dementia.  On May 7, 2024, she fell while walking and fractured a vertebrae.  She declined very quickly, passing away peacefully on May 18, 2024, at 3:50 pm.

She was known by most as Tante Annie, and will be remembered for her sense of humour, kindness, and love for all.

She will be sadly missed and leaves to mourn her loving husband Henry; thier children and their families, John (Anne), George, Betty (Henry) Reimer, Ave (Elaine), Dave (Barb), Marge (Andrew) Wiebe, Aron (Theresa) and Ann (Cornelius) Fehr; 46 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 sister; 8 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents; parents-in-law; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 18 brothers-in-law; 11 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

"A new command I give you; love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love on another."  John 13: 34-35

A heartfelt thank you from the family for all the prayers and visits during mom's hospital stay.  A very special thank you to all the care givers and staff at the complex.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Prespatou Old Colony Mennonite Church with Interment to follow at the Gruenfeld Cemetery.
