Obituary of Tonia Kathleen Salinas

In Loving Memory of Tonia Kathleen Salinas

September 5, 1976 – April 5, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tonia Kathleen Salinas (nee Schedlosky). After a courageous and resilient battle spanning eight years against Brain Cancer, Tonia departed from us, leaving behind a legacy illuminated by her remarkable grace and unwavering courage.

Tonia was born in Westlock, Alberta, where she lived alongside her mother, Verlyn Foster, father, Joseph Schedlosky, and siblings, Danielle and Wade.  Her upbringing shaped her into the extraordinary individual she became. Tonia found her soulmate and devoted husband, Jewel Salinas, in Fort St John, where they were blessed with three beloved sons: Soren, Tatum, and Kash.  Her unconditional love for her family had no bounds.

Tonia embodied quiet strength, exemplifying a spirit untouched by complaint, and adorned with an ever-positive outlook on life. Her innate ability to uplift those around her and offer solace with a few gentle words was a testament to her character. As Helen Keller once eloquently stated, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched; they must be felt with the heart," a sentiment that resonates deeply with Tonia's essence. Her radiant smile and effortless charm facilitated genuine connections with all she encountered, leaving an indelible mark upon their hearts.

Though she may no longer walk among us, Tonia's memory shall forever be cherished, and her absence keenly felt. In her absence, we find solace in the enduring love she shared and the countless lives she enriched with her luminous presence. May her spirit continue to inspire warmth, compassion, and love in our hearts, and may her family find comfort in the cherished memories they shared with her.

A special heart felt thank you to the extensive Medical team in Vancouver that treated, cared and supported her through the years, and also to Dr. Wright and Cancer care unit in Fort St. John.

We will be holding a Celebration of life on May 11th, 2024 at the Northern Grand hotel in Fort St. John at 1:00 pm with a time of sharing and refreshments and food to follow the service.
