Harvey Hennig

1948~2024

A celebration of life will be held for Harvey Hennig this Saturday, June 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the Charlie Lake Community Hall. Anyone that knew Harvey and would like to attend is welcome, please feel free to come and share your memories of him with his family.

Harvey was born in Lamont, Alberta November 9th, 1948 to parents Wilbert & Theodora Hennig. He grew up in Bruderheim, Alberta with his four siblings, Barb, Kelsey, Larry and Sandy. A good friend in high school introduced Harvey to his cousin, Lorna Lambert. Harvey and Lorna began dating a few years later and married on August 17, 1968. In 1973 he accepted a job with Pacific 66 which resulted in a move to Fort St. John with their newborn son Derek. They were all nicely settling in when a month later he was transferred to Fort Nelson. Harvey and Lorna enjoyed their northern life with new friendships while welcoming their second child Lori Hennig (MacLean). Fort Nelson was home for 7 years. Transfers saw him finally returning and remaining in Fort St. John in 1990.

Harvey had a passion for a vast number of sports, hockey, snowmobiling and skiing to name a few. Over the years, Harvey made many friends through his different hobbies. Harvey was passionate about his motorcycle. The love of the ride made the Tuesday night rides with Derek and The Bikers For Christ and Friends, Fort St. John Chapter something he looked forward to. Morning coffee with “the Knowledge Network” friends at the A&W was something he looked forward to and rarely missed. To his motorcycle friends when you happen to be on a beautiful bike ride this summer, smile, and think of Harvey, to his coffee friends, enjoy a coffee and a joke and think of Harvey.

Harvey loved his family, wife Lorna, Derek (Colleen), Lori MacLean (Kevin). He was extremely proud of his grandchildren Ben Hennig, Bryce, Mason and Kyla MacLean. Harvey was the love of his family and he will be truly missed. He left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories and for that we are so grateful.
