Ann Stromsmoe
1948~2024
Ann Stromsmoe (Gladysz) passed away at the Fort St. John Hospital on January 15,, 2024 at the age of 75.
She was born on September 21, 1948 at the Providence Hospital in Fort St. John, BC.
Ann was raised in Charlie Lake on the Gladysz farm. She was home schooled until grade three and then attended Grand Haven elementary school and graduated from North Peace Secondary School.
Ann had a great sense of fun and adventure. She often spoke of the Charlie Lake Teen club and how fun it was. After she graduated, Ann left for Vancouver to attend Pittman’s Business College to become a legal secretary. She also travelled to Mexico with her friend and she always joked about how crazy it was to travel Mexico on five dollars a day being so young!
Ann spent many of her secretarial years working for Walsh & Company (Walsh, Cleaveley and Fus) and for the Ministry of Energy and Mines in Charlie Lake. She briefly had a book keeping company. Ann also spent some years working for Centra Gas and contracted to the Fort St. John Hospital. Her last adventure before her retirement, she purchased Petticoat Lane. Ann always had an eye for fashion and a head for business. She really loved having the clothing store for 12 years.
She and her husband, Rex, had wonderful times together. They enjoyed travelling and walking, attending shows, Rodeos in Las Vegas and music concerts.
Ann was absolutely dedicated to her children and extended family. She always worked so hard to make sure that they had every opportunity. She had a huge heart, incredible strength and an unwaivering faith in God.
Ann is survived by her husband, Rex, her children Laurie Gould (Les), Aarin MacDonald (Brian), Scott MacDonald and Rex’s children, Tammie Anderson (Danny), Edward Stromsmoe (Jill), Michael Stromsmoe (Andrea), Lisa Stromsmoe, her grandchildren Tysen and Emily Peacock and gread-grandchild Scotlynn Peacock. Also, her brothers Ted Gladysz and Gene Gladysz (Wendy).
She was Grandma Ann to Rex’s grandchildren Jodi Bates (Richard), Danielle Anderson, Jessica and Marie Stromsmoe, Brody and Summer Stromsmoe, Mick Belleville and great-grandchildren Macey and Portlynn Bates and Everly Franklin. She loved them all and they loved her back.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mike Wright for his incredible care, the wonderful team at the Fort St. John Oncology Clinic, Dr. Breen and the nursing staff at the Fort St. John Hospital for their compassion and care.
Family will be holding a private service at a later date as per Anns wishes.
