When I worked at the Treaty 8 Tribal Association between 1985-1988, I had the pleasure of getting to know Maize. I always enjoyed talking to her either on the phone or in person when she would come in the office. When I left the T8TA the 7 Bands that made the association held a going away supper for me. One of the gifts I received from the Halfway Band was a spoon holder for use while cooking and it says "You can't overcook a smile". I still have that spoon holder to this day, 35 years later.
