Obituary of John Samuel LaBoucane

In Loving Memory of John Samuel LaBoucane

 

October 3, 1933 – August 1, 2026

 

John Samuel LaBoucane, known to many as Sam, was born on October 3, 1933, and passed away on August 1, 2026. He was the second oldest son of Josue and Lucy LaBoucane.

 

Sam lived his life throughout the North Peace area, with a few adventures that brought him down to Vancouver, and up to Fort Nelson. He spent much of his time outdoors, spending his days ranching and farming in the 109 and Rose Prairie areas. In his free time, he could often be found hunting moose or in the mountains hunting and foraging. He loved sports, throughout his life playing, golf, curling. He also loved to catch the Bluejays game on the TV.

 

For many of his years, Sam lived alongside Rita Fayant, where they made their home together in Rose Prairie, raising their grandson, Chris Richards. Later, they took to the open road in their motorhome, making memories and adventures along the way before eventually making a new home in Beaverlodge.

 

Throughout Sam’s life, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Sam could undoubtedly get a room belly laughing with his stories of adventures and misadventures. His sense of humour and ability to make people laugh will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

 

He happily spent many of his later years as a caretaker of the family property at the Beatton River, a place that held many memories and remained close to his heart.

 

In his final years, Sam was reunited with Dolly (Babcock) Gabert, and the two remained happily together in her home in Fort St. John.

 

Sam will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by many extended family and friends, including his grandson Chris and wife Rubie, their daughter Aurora, his sisters Mona and Diana, his many nieces, nephews and last love Dolly.

 

His life was filled with family, the outdoors, hard work, adventure, and plenty of laughter. The stories he shared, the memories he made, and the laughter he brought to those around him will remain with his family and friends for years to come.
