Obituary of Rosalie Bozarth

Rosalie Bozarth

1935 – 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of Rosalie (nee Miarecki) Bozarth announces her passing on July 9^th, 2026 in Fort St John, BC with family by her side.

Rosalie was born at home on the farm in Smoky Heights, AB with a mid-wife on May 16, 1935; the youngest child to Stanislaw and Magdalena Miarecki. Rosalie grew up on the farm and attended Rivertop School. She loved to tell stories about growing up on the farm and all the mischief that she and her sister would get into.

Rosalie married Evan Bozarth in 1956 and raised a family. They lived at many of the Westcoast Stations in Taylor, Fort St. John, Kobes Creek, McLeod Lake, and Willow Flats until settling in Chetwynd.  When Evan and Rosalie parted, she remained in Chetwynd. In her later years, she moved to Fort St John to be closer to family.

Rosalie had many interesting jobs over the years including a switchboard telephone operator and a weather observer. She was very active in the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce; a well-respected business woman owning a craft store and health food store but is best known for her floral shops in Oliver, Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd.

Rosalie loved learning new things and spent many hours researching natural ways for healing. She loved being creative! When her children were younger, she would spend hours sewing clothes for them and it was common to see her girls wearing matching outfits. She was always trying out the latest fad in crafts, whether it was liquid embroidery, macrame or whatever was most popular but her favorite was knitting on her knitting machine. Her love of crafts and creativity is evident in her children and grandchildren who all share the same passion.  She was a master at playing Chinese checkers and would lovingly challenge everyone who stopped by for a visit. 

Rosalie was a faithful servant of the Lord and a Christian spiritual pillar. She cared about others and would advocate for those who couldn’t. She went out of her way to ensure they were cared for in the best way possible. She left an impression on everyone who met her and her compassion and kindness will be missed by many.

Rosalie is pre-deceased by her parents Stanislaw and Magdalena Miarecki; son Gregory Bozarth; brother Joseph Miarecki; sister Pauline Tkach; daughter-in-law Denise Bozarth; son-in-law Ed Schallock; twin grandsons Duncan and Jason Schallock. She is lovingly remembered by her children Liz (Calvin) Berlinger; Aaron Bozarth; Lana Schallock; Donna Bozarth (Bob Workman); grandchildren Bryce (Natasha); Tyson; Aysha-Rae (Lucas); Tiana; Greg (Ali); Kelsey (Mackenzie); Jay (Mikayla); Lindsay (Colton); Delaney and great-grandchildren Tali, Liara, Evan, Max, Stetson, Bohdan, Paisleigh, Miller, Walker and Lawson and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
