Obituary of Ernest Dale Amboe
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ernest Dale Amboe of Charlie Lake, BC, announce his peaceful passing on July 2, 2026, at the age of 78, at home with his two children by his side.
He was born Nov 29, 1947, in Edmonton, Alberta, a son of the late Andrew & Louisa Amboe.
For more than 30 years, Ernie served with Transport Canada. He began his career in Fort Nelson at the airport as a Firefighter before advancing to positions in Hay River and eventually Fort St. John, where he served as Airport Fire Chief and, later, Airport Manager. Throughout his career, Ernie was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication to the people he oversaw.
Away from work, Ernie was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and love of making others laugh. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and pursuing his many hobbies, including hunting, sport bow & gun shooting, and photography. Above all, Ernie cherished time with his family. He was a proud and loving Nono who took great joy in his grandchildren, creating memories with them that will be treasured for years to come.
Ernie leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Natasha Amboe; his son, Andrew (Kelly) Amboe; his beloved grandchildren, Tristan Campbell, Hayden Campbell, Luc Amboe, Raelle Amboe, and Kailey Amboe; and his sister, Andra Amboe.
Ernie was predeceased by his loving wife, Dianne, in 2016. After nearly a decade apart, they are together once again.
A private family service will be held to honour the life of our beloved father and Nono.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fort St John Hospital Foundation in Ernie’s memory.
