Obituary of Gordon Alan Eby

After a long battle with cancer, Gord Eby (fondly known as The Texan) took the stairway to heaven early on July 2nd. It was quick and it was peaceful, just as he wanted. Gord’s last day was spent with his children and a few close friends by his side.

Gordon Alan Eby was born March 16, 1957, to Olga and John Eby in Vernon BC. He was the baby of the house with two older brothers Bob and Jack, and carried the character of a young rebel. After an amazing childhood in the Okanagan, Gord went to University in Vancouver and made his way north….way north to Fort St John where he began his career in the oilfield and met his future wife Coni. 

Coni and Gord spent nearly 40 years making Fort St John their home, and building a family with their children Stevi and Timbre, and pets. 

They made many friends and Gord was known to be the life of the party.

Throughout the years, Gord worked at the same plant in Taylor, played hockey, and of course, fished whenever possible - in sun or ice. Always the sports fan, there wasn’t a football or hockey game missed.

Close to the end, Gord said several times “ I’ve lived a good life. No regrets.” 

He is survived by his brothers, Jack Eby and Bob Eby, his children Stevi and Timbre, the crew of BC Flyguys, his hockey team, the GOEG, and many friends.
