Obituary of Garry Dean Taylor

September 19, 1952 – June 17, 2026

Garry Dean Taylor, resident of Baldonnel, passed away on June 17, 2026, at the Fort St. John Hospital, with loved ones by his side.

Garry was born in Mesquite, Texas, and moved to Canada with his family at the age of six, settling in Fort St. John, where he would go on to build his life, career, and community.

He began his working life as a trained chef, later becoming a butcher, and devoting 35 years of his career to Safeway, where he worked as a respected and dedicated Meat Manager. Through his hard work and commitment, he built lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike.

Garry had a passion for sports and the outdoors. He loved playing baseball, curling, racquetball, and golf, and generously gave his time coaching both baseball and curling, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with the youth in the community. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, finding comfort and happiness outdoors.

Garry was known for his friendly, outgoing nature. He had the “gift of the gab” and loved to chat with everyone, with a remarkable ability to make a friend wherever he went. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who met him.

Above all, Garry adored his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. His love, guidance, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene; his children, Kalin and Amber (Curtis); and his beloved grandchildren, Alexander and Isaac; as well as his sister, Wanda; his brother Dwayne (Cheryl), and his sister-in-law, Carol. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Garry is predeceased by his parents, Wilbur and Patricia Taylor, and Walter Flett; his brother, Don Taylor, and sister-in-law, Bev Taylor.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

The family would like to thank the staff at Canadian Tire and the emergency medical staff for their care, compassion, and support in his final hours.

The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a Celebration of Life for Garry on Saturday, September 12th, at 1:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Baldonnel Elementary School. Following the service, guests are warmly invited to remain with the family for refreshments, fellowship, and the sharing of memories as they celebrate Garry's life.
