Obituary of Jackie Wilton
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Margaret "Jackie" Wilton, who passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 78. Jackie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 4, 1947. After living in Halifax, Oxford, England, and Winnipeg, she eventually made her home in Fort St. John, British Columbia in 1979, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, laughter, and community.
Jackie was a devoted partner to Richard Harasen, her loving spouse of 30 years. She was a proud and caring mother to Meghan Nordman (Hogan) and Trevor Nordman, and a cherished grandmother to Jacqueline, Wilton, Sinnott, Andrew, and Katie, who brought her immense joy and pride. She is survived by her sisters, Judy and Kathy and was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Ada Wilton, and her brother, Bob.
For many years, Jackie worked as the elementary school secretary at C.M. Finch School, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and welcoming presence. She touched the lives of countless students, parents, and staff members through her dedication and caring nature.
Jackie loved spending time with Richard and friends in the outdoors and enjoyed activities like camping, although she would be the first to admit she preferred the comforts of "glamping" over sleeping in a tent. She treasured evenings around a campfire, sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. Her sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make others feel welcome will be remembered by all who knew her.
She will be forever missed by those she shared a special bond with. In particular, her dear friends Rose and Beverley whose companionship, laughter, and unwavering friendship enriched her life in countless ways. She will be fondly remembered by Marlene, Gordon and her nephew Darren. Jackie used to travel with Marlene to Grande Prairie, Tumbler Ridge and Ft. Nelson to watch his hockey games. Darren often popped by to visit Jackie and would bring her flowers. He will miss her dearly.
Jackie also cherished the lifelong friendships she maintained from her years in Winnipeg, friendships that remained a meaningful and treasured part of her life through the decades. Above all, Jackie loved her family. Her love, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.
