Gwen Kosick

1928 – 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Gwen Kosick. 

Gwen was born in Saskatchewan to parents of Norwegian and English descent. She spent most of her childhood on a farm in northern Alberta with her parents and 7 siblings. Gwen attended high school in Dawson Creek, BC and then attended business college on a scholarship. She worked in the Pouce Coupe government office for several years before marrying Nick Kosick. Nick and Gwen spend most of their lives in Fort St John, where they raised 6 children and established Beaver Transport Trucking Company. They enjoyed their horses and spent many Sunday afternoons on a trail ride, ending with a hot dog roast.

Gwen loved playing games, gardening, reading, knitting, and watching sports, especially hockey. Her faith in Christ was genuine; it was about redemption, not perfection. She attended the Church of the Resurrection and was part of the C.W.L. for 60 years. Gwen’s legacy is one of faith, family, love, humility and service.

She is predeceased by her husband, Nick, and her son, Ken. She will be dearly missed by her 7 siblings, 5 children (and their spouses), 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and all who knew her.

A service to lay Gwen to rest will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort St. John on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. 

Reception to follow at the Fort St John Senior’s Hall (10908 – 100 St) from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
