Susan Freeman

1965 - 2026

 

It is with profound sadness and love that the family of Susan Leeann Freeman shares the news of her passing on June 3, 2026.

Susan was born January 1, 1965 in Red Deer, Alberta, to proud parents Margaret Ann (Peggy) & Dennis Freeman, she was the 1st granddaughter of Leora & Eldon Thompson.
Susan was also the 1st New Year’s baby in 1965 for Red Deer, Alberta.

Susan grew up living throughout Alberta, living in Red Deer, Calgary, Okotoks, Crowsnest Pass, Bentley, Aldersyde, Drayton Valley, Summerland BC, Grande Prairie, Fox Creek and her final years were spent in Taylor, BC, surrounded by family.

Susan was predeceased by her mother Peggy, father Dennis, and her brothers Jim & Doug.

She is survived by her siblings Lorne & Teena, and her nephews and nieces, Jordy, Tyler, Travis, Kendra, Christopher, Ashley and their families.

Although Susan had no children of her own she loved children and was a nanny at one time often Auntie Susie to many. She also ran the North Peace arena concession for many years. The highlight for her were the many coloring pages that so many children had colored for her and she proudly hung all over the concession.

She was a very caring and giving person and did have an impact on those who knew her. She will be dearly missed. She lived her life on her terms and to the fullest. She always worked to live by what was one of her favorite poems as well which I have included here below.

 

The Man in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self

And the world makes you king for a day

Just go to the mirror and look at yourself

And see what that man has to say.

 

For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife

Whose judgment upon you must pass

The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the one staring back from the glass.

 

He’s the fellow to please – never mind all the rest

For he’s with you, clear to the end

And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test

If the man in the glass is your friend.

 

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years

And get pats on the back as you pass

But your final reward will be heartache and tears

If you’ve cheated the man in the glass
