Obituary of Lloyd Arthur Ryan

Lloyd Ryan

November 1st, 1954 - February 6th, 2026

It is with great sadess that we share the passing of Lloyd Ryan of Fort St. John at 71 years of age.

Lloyd Arthur Ryan, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Lloyd passed away peacefully in Fort St. John, British Columbia on February 6, 2026 at the age of 71.

Lloyd was born on November 1, 1954, in Duncan, B.C. to Eugene and Dorothy Ryan. Lloyd and his brother Howard moved to Ft. St. John in 1971. They didn't know anyone in town and spent their time at the pool hall where they started making friends. A truck driver by profession, Lloyd began swamping for Argus Vandale at Land Transport and went on to get his Class 1 at the young age of 19. He was given the nickname of "The Kid" in the patch. His stories of work in the patch were many, and he loved to share them with anyone willing to listen. He worked truck driving until his retirement.

Lloyd became a proud father on October 15, 1975 when his son Darren was born (Mom Nancy Ryan). On November 9th, 2004 he became a proud Grandfather to Zach.

Lloyd married Yvonne Neighbor in 1997.  They lived in Wonowon for many years where they made many lifelong friends. Everyone was always welcome to stop in on their way up and down the Highway for a visit and a coffee or beer.  In 2017 they moved to Cherry Creek just out of Kamloops where they lived until he entered the hospital. Lloyd and Yvonne also made many trips to the Island to Cowichan Bay, fishing with friends and family and they always had one or two doggy kids (as they called them) riding along for the adventures.

Lloyd loved the outdoors. He and Yvonne spent their time off work camping, fishing, hunting, traveling the backroads, and yearly hunting camp in the Pink Mountain area where many great memories were made with friends and family. His wishes were to have his ashes spread at the top of Pink Mountain.

An avid sports fan, Lloyd really loved football, but he enjoyed his hockey too. He was a couch potato when games were on, cheering for his favorite teams with a Budweiser in hand, engaging in spirited debates about the latest plays and players.

Lloyd was a man of many layers. He was well-read and possessed a keen intellect, often engaging in discussions about current events and the world around him. Lloyd was witty and sarcastic, and he had a remarkable ability to deliver a smart-ass comeback that could leave you laughing, or puzzled. If the TV was off the stereo was on. He really loved his music, especially Waylon Jennings, Bob Segar, and Roy Orbison.

Memories of Lloyd will live on through his son Darren and grandson Zach, his brother Howard and Donna, his sister Ann Mast and John, along with many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Lloyd. Lloyd lived life his way, he was a kind man, a loyal friend, and both his Ryan and Neighbor families will remember him with love. Lloyds absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him and we will remember all of the fun times and laughter.

Rest in Peace Lloyd
