Obituary of Al Lewis
John Allan “Al” Lewis
May 5, 1938 – January 18, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of John Allan “Al” Lewis announce his passing on January 18, 2026, at the age of 87.
Al was born May 5, 1938, in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, the youngest of five children. In 1957 he met the love of his life, Eleanor Rindal, and they were married in 1959. Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and the land they loved.
Over the years Al and Eleanor moved west, eventually settling north of Taylor. Al began hauling logs and owned several logging trucks, working in the logging and trucking industry for over 30 years. Later, he and Eleanor built their farm where they raised Simmental cattle and enjoyed the life they created there.
Al had many interests throughout his life. He loved animals and always had a dog or two by his side. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, had a love for fast cars, and was involved in early snowmobile racing, helping build the sport in the area. No matter what he was doing, family was always at the center of his life.
Al will be forever missed by his daughter Joan, son Rodney (Val), and daughter Donna (Mike); his grandchildren Cole, Shelanda (Devon), Sean (Alanna), and Alana; and his great-grandchildren Austin (Chloe), Ethan, Kali, Levi, Roman, Lennon, Liam, Swae, and Ledger.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eleanor in 2020 and his son-in-law Larry Carothers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thompson, the nurses, care aides, and all the staff at Peace Villa for their care and kindness.
