Joyce Swiderski

February 1, 1950 - January 14, 2026

Joyce Doris Swiderski-Wolfe, affectionately known as “Babe,” was born on February 1, 1950, in High Prairie, Alberta, and she passed away peacefully in her beloved hometown on January 14, 2026. Joyce was a vibrant soul whose warmth and laughter touched everyone she encountered. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.

Joyce was the beloved wife of Kirby Swiderski, with whom she shared a deep and abiding love that spanned decades. Together, they created a beautiful family, raising their children—daughter Elizabeth, known fondly as “Girlie,” son Blaine, affectionately called “Manny,” and daughter Connie, lovingly referred to as “Tress.” Joyce’s love for her children was matched only by her adoration for her grandchildren: Emmett, Taj, Misha, and Adrik, who brought boundless joy and laughter into her life. She delighted in every moment spent with them, whether it was sharing stories, playing games, or simply enjoying the warmth of family gatherings.

Joyce was the daughter of Gordon and Elizabeth Wolfe and was raised in a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and resilience. She was the cherished sister of Nancy Desjarlais, her best friend and confidante, and Valarie “Dolly” Wolfe. Joyce also shared a special bond with her brother, Cecil “Butch” Wolfe. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings Grace Wolfe, Violet Giroux, William “Chief” Giroux, Clifford “Sunny” Giroux, Rita Fayant, Thelma Schell, and Herb Giroux, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Joyce’s spirit was as vibrant as the sunsets she loved to watch at the beach. She and Kirby shared a passion for life that was evident in their many adventures together. They were known for their love of baseball, playing with their cherished team, the “Radicals.” Their shared laughter and competitive spirit brought them closer, and their love for the game was a testament to their joyful approach to life. Joyce also found solace in nature, relishing the moments spent camping under the stars, surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors.

Joyce was a master of bringing people together. She hosted countless barbecues and lawn games, creating a welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter, love, and connection. Her home was a sanctuary for family and friends, a place where everyone felt valued and cherished. Joyce had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special, and her infectious spirit drew people in, creating lasting friendships that spanned generations.

As we remember Joyce, we are reminded of her unwavering strength and her ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. She had a heart of gold and a spirit that shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Joyce’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, who will carry her love and lessons with them always.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Peace Region from July 10 to 12, 2026, with the location to be announced. Family and friends are invited to come together in joy and remembrance, sharing stories and laughter as they honor the beautiful life of Joyce Doris Swiderski-Wolfe. RVs and camping will be part of the celebration, reflecting Joyce’s love for the outdoors and her passion for bringing people together.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Linda, Shelia, Chris, and all the wonderful staff at Peace Villa for the compassionate care and support they provided Joyce in her final days. Your kindness made a difference in her life and in the lives of her family.

Though Joyce may have left this world, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved. She was a shining light, and her memory will continue to inspire and uplift us all. Rest in peace, dear Babe; you will be missed more than words can express.
