Obituary of Henry James Loewen
Henry James Loewen was born to Bishop Abraham and Maria (Epp) Loewen on February 14, 1934 in the Hague, Saskatchewan area.
Dad spent his early years farming and constructing basements in Saskatchewan during the summer months and logging with some of his brothers in Burns Lake, BC during the winter months. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith on May 29, 1955 by his dad. He married the love of his life, Annie Loeppky, on November 3, 1957. They were married 66 years, 6 months and 15 days until morr. was called home to be with her Saviour and Dad spent the last 20 months missing her. They were blessed with 8 children.
Mom and Dad moved to the new community of Prespatou in the spring of 1962. They were one of the original founders of this settlement and spent countless hours making it liveable and helping the other pioneers to the area. The first years were spent raising pigs and chickens. Dad and Uncle Aaron Froese would often butcher up to six pigs in one evening and then take them to town the next day with a tractor and hay wagon to deliver them to their customers. In later years, cattle became Dad's passion and he raised them until he was 90 years old. Dad was a hard worker and never regretted making the move from Saskatchewan, knowing he was providing better opportunities for his children.
Dad was very strong in his faith and supported the traditions of the church. He was involved in getting the Seniors' Complex started and appreciated the comfort and care he received there.
Dad was taken to the Fort St. John hospital due to declining health on January 3, 2026 and peacefully passed away on January 5, 2026 at 2:15 am.
Dad will be dearly missed and leaves to mourn his children and their families, 48 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 1 brother. 3 sisters, 2 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nepr.ews.
