Obituary of Elsie Lindsay
It is with great sadness that our family shares the passing of our mother, Elsie Lindsay, on December 22, 2025, at the age of 87, at Peace Villa Care Home in Fort St. John, British Columbia.
Elsie is lovingly remembered by her children:
Randy (Arla), Bernie (Dianne), Douglas (Brenda), Harvey, and Sandra.
She is also survived by her sister Phyllis; sister-in-law Rita Beck; brother-in-law Bill Sturby; her grandchildren Alishia, Corey, Eric, Jamie, Jared, Jason, Brandon, and Heather; and her great-grandchildren Blake, Trace, Parker, Caspian, Eleanora, Jack, Carter, Nicholas, Mira, and Theo.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, David Lindsay (1997); her brothers Peter Beck (2015), Dan Beck (2016), and Ed Beck (2016); her sisters Elena Watchel (2006) and Leona Sturby (2022); her brothers-in-law Claude Goebel and Willie Watchel; her granddaughter Heather Lindsay (2024); and her niece Brittney Humenuk (2016).
Elsie was born in Ksituan, Alberta, in 1938. She met Dave in Grande Prairie, Alberta, while working in a café with her sister Leona. They were married at the Beck Family Farm on October 25, 1958, and shortly after moved to Fort St. John, British Columbia, where they began their family in 1960.
Elsie devoted many years to being a homemaker. In 1974, she joined Dave in operating the family business, Lindsay’s Plumbing & Heating Ltd.
She volunteered for many years with the Royal Purple, a role she truly enjoyed, and also gave her time to the Hospital Auxiliary.
Elsie loved going to bingo and enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the Blue Jays baseball games and Toronto Maple Leafs hockey. She was an avid curler and golfer, and loved doing crossword puzzles. She especially cherished meeting her daughters-in-law and friends for coffee.
Above all, Elsie loved her family dearly. She was always involved and willing to help whenever she could.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring or summer.
