Obituary of Kim Marie Ditner
Kim Marie Ditner, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away on October 18, 2025, in Fort St John, BC, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on January 10, 1958, in Kitchener, Ontario. Kim was the daughter of Jim and Colleen Gies and the eldest child of five. In 1976, the family along with Ed Ditner moved West to Dawson Creek, BC and they married on July 15, 1977. She was a pillar of strength and love for her family, and her passing has left a void that can never be filled.
Kim will be deeply missed by her siblings: Cheryl (Jim) Lequiere, Chris Gies (Sheryl Olson), and Jeff (Shelley) Gies. She was a loving mother to her three children: Tammi-Lynn (Chris) Biollo, Tom (Amber) Ditner, and Candice Ditner. Kim's grandchildren, Tyson, Xander, Kasey, Trayton, and Hannah, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was reunited in death with her beloved mother, Colleen, her brother Kevin Gies, and her nephew Josh Lequiere.
In addition to her immediate family, Kim leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, including Brittany (Wade) Wickham, Kelsey (Josh) Holowaychuk, Daniel (Bailey) Gies, Amy (Daniel) Jacob, Jessica (Neil) Cotton, Amanda Gies, Justin Gies, and Jordan Gies, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was a source of love and support for her extended family and will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
Kim's life was marked by resilience and courage, as she faced health challenges with grace and determination. Kim's journey was made possible by the unwavering support of numerous healthcare providers, including the Lung Transplant team in Edmonton, who provided her with an additional 15 years of life. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the healthcare professionals who cared for Kim, especially the staff at North Peace Primary Care Clinic: Dr Emokpaire & team, the ICU, IPU, FSJ Wellness Pharmacy: Mike & Cory, HM2 Staff & residents, Long Term Care Assessment/ Liaison Nurse: Irene & Lisa, and her social worker: Linda, who went above and beyond to provide her with the best care possible. Special thanks to Amber for all her behind the scenes’ care.
Kim's interests and passions were as diverse as her love for her family. She enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays, listening to music, singing, and dancing. She found joy in solving puzzles, playing bingo and casino games. Kim's culinary skills were legendary, and she took great pleasure in cooking and baking for her loved ones. Above all, she treasured quality time with her family, especially her father, and cherished her friendship with her transplant buddy and best friend, Lorna & Earl Horth.
