Obituary of David Reimer

In Loving Memory of David Reimer
February 2, 1956 – October 15, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of David Reimer, born on February 2, 1956, who departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father at the age of 69 years, 8 months, and 13 days.

David was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to Isaac and Aganetha Reimer, the fifth of ten children. He lived in Osler until the age of six, after which the family moved to Prespatou, BC. It was there that he met and married Ruby Dyck in 1975. Over the course of fifty years, two months, and nineteen days of marriage, they built a life together in Prespatou, grounded in God’s love and faith, raising nine children.

David worked in the logging industry and had a deep passion for operating heavy equipment. He retired in April 2024, though he said in the weeks before his passing, “I miss my job very much, and if my health was better, I would go back to operating heavy equipment.”

In July 2024, David underwent Whipple surgery, and while doctors held little hope for recovery, his family witnessed a miracle, God granted them another cherished year together. However, in the late spring of 2025, his health began to decline once more. In the final two months of his life, David was in and out of the hospital as his pancreatic cancer returned and metastasized, leading to a rapid decline. In his last months, David often said, “I just want to see Jesus. Jesus, just come.” His greatest concern was that his children and grandchildren would continue to walk in God’s faith.

David was predeceased by his parents, his parents-in-law (William and Helen Dyck), his brother-in-law, Alvin Dyck, and his son-in-law, Isaac Peters.

He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Ruby, and their nine children: Susanne (Paul), Catherine, Judy (Bernard), David (Helana), Sarah (Bill), Jacob (Krista), Abraham (Pamela), John (Martha), and Aron (Marissa); as well as his 30 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at the Prespatou Mennonite Church, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 1:00pm, with a time for viewing starting at 11:00am
