Obituary of Dean Aaron Boyd
Dean Aaron Boyd
1961 - 2025
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dean Boyd on September 3, 2025 after a battle with cancer.
Dean was born December 31, 1961, in Fort St. John, the sixth child of Fay and Murray Boyd. He attended school first in Cranbrook, BC and then when the family moved back to Fort St. John, he attended Elementary school in Grandhaven, and Bert Bowes Jr Secondary, then decided he would rather get a job than do homework.
He had various jobs that developed his talents and work ethics in different places. He learned to hang drywall for Bob Swanson, laid water and sewer lines underground for A-1 Water and Sewer, operated many pieces of equipment for Pat Preston, and soon after he began his journey in the pipeline industry with Great Northern Enterprises, and Tucker & Associates.
He met Lisa Jensen in 1977 while shooting pool at a party. He certainly made a lasting impression on her as they have been together ever since, and they were married on August 11, 1990. Life became even more exciting with the blessings of their two precious children Mandy and Brayden.
Around 1994 Dean and family moved from Clairmont to a quaint acreage in Charlie Lake. In 2008 Dean and Lisa's dream of a timber frame home for their family was finally coming to fruition. Over the years, they have continued to develop the home and surroundings. Those who have visited can tell you what a unique and extremely beautiful home it is.
Dean's work was a massive part of his lifestyle and his character. After years of making connections, colleagues, and friends, Dean has made a lasting mark in the oilfield community that has reached across BC and Alberta. Soon after Dean ended a partnership in 2005 doing pipeline construction work all around Northern BC and Alberta, he moved on to working for Points North Contracting as a General Manager, Shell and Tourmaline as a Pipeline Inspector, a Consultant for Progress Energy, and then back to pipeline construction for Macro Industries. Dean loved to work, he loved being out in the field giving it his all wherever the right-of-way took him. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
In 2019 Dean was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer. He had a big setback to his health when he was hit in a head on collision on his way home from the completion of a project for C.G.L. Unfortunately, Dean's health continued to decline, and he entered the FSJ Hospital on July 20, 2025 then was transferred to the ICU in Prince George on August 5th. Lisa and the medical team tried every possible treatment to restore Dean to his former health - but to no avail. Dean's fight sadly ended on September 3rd with Lisa, Mandy, and Brayden by his side to comfort him and send him peacefully on his way to the angels.
Those who knew Dean well knew that his happiest moments were:
1 - Spending time with family.
2 - Driving his prized 1955 Chevy Belair
3 - Hunting on the Tuchodi River and other remote areas in the Canadian North.
4 - Working - yes working! He did it all from trucking to operating machinery, to supervising and inspecting major pipeline projects throughout BC and Alberta. He was known for his dependable nature, his smile and his infectious laugh. His years of knowledge and experience was never taken for granted and his hard-working attitude would never go unnoticed.
Dean is survived by his wife and partner of almost 49 years, his daughter Mandy, and son Brayden. His brother Craig was his closest buddy and the two of them were known to be a quick-witted pair in the oilfield. Dean also leaves behind his sisters Marilyn Blanchette (Phil and daughters Linda and Leanne), brother in-law Ken Powell (and children Corrine and Ron), sister Brenda Hopcott (Roy and children Susan, Ryan and Lindsey), and brothers Brad (Helen), Craig (Kathy and children Dailyn and Bryce), and Cam (Heather), sister in-law Karen Morton (Dee and Karen's son Calvin), sisters in-law Diane Huhn (Mickie and her children Tyler and Kate), Karen Copes (and her daughters Nicole and Cristal), brother in-law Chris Jensen (Shannon and sons Jordan & Kyle), and sister in-law Shelley Jensen. In addition, he leaves many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dean is pre-deceased by his parents Murray and Fay, and his sister Maureen Powell.
