Obituary of Roy Kelly

Gordon "Roy" Kelly

1950 - 2025

Gordon Roy Kelly, affectionately known as Roy, passed away in his home in Hudson's Hope, British Columbia, on September 1, 2025, at the age of 75.

Roy was born on January 2, 1950, with strong Icelandic roots, in Selkirk, Manitoba, to Magnus "Mike" Kelly and May Goodman Kelly. The early years of his life were spent growing up in Manitoba. When he was a teenager, the family moved to BC, settling in Hudson's Hope in 1966. On May 23, 1970, he married the love of his life, Heather. In September 1970, they welcomed their daughter, Kimberly Anne, and in July 1974, they welcomed their son, Gordon Roy (Gord). Together, they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage built on love, devotion, and family.

Roy lived a full and vibrant life. He had a passion for music and loved to entertain family and friends at gatherings, often bringing joy through his songs. He was a natural-born comedian, full of jokes and pranks. He was also deeply enthusiastic about old cars and motorcycles, spending countless hours restoring and appreciating them. He was the ultimate jack-of-all-trades. Roy's career spanned trucking, manufacturing, construction, and nearly every aspect of the oil and gas sector. His skills, hard work, and ingenuity left a lasting mark on those who worked alongside him. He loved to share his knowledge and would teach anyone willing to learn; his generosity and willingness to share were immense.

Roy's warmth, sense of humor, and steadfast presence touched all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and the countless memories shared.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Heather; his children, Kim Kelly (Keith Matheson) and Gord (Laurie Kelly); five cherished grandchildren, Amber Grover (Morgan), Chantel Meek, Shelby Meek (Jordan Turner), Payton Kelly, and Broden Kelly; and seven great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride. He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, JoAnn (Chuck Chatten), Brian (Kathy), Darlene Halata Kelly, Lori Kelly, Gerry (Lynn), Rob (Jessica), and many nieces and nephews.
