Obituary of Sarah Maloney

Sarah Maloney

January 26, 1931 - August 31, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Sarah (Sal) Maloney on August 31, 2025 at Fort St. John Hospital at the age of 94.

Sarah was born in Waterloo, Ontario in 1931 to Lidia and Amos Jutzi. Sarah moved west in her early 20s. She gained employment as a camp attendant on the rigs where she met her late husband, Melvin Keith Maloney. They were happily married for 52 years, settling in Fort St John and later moving to Armstrong, after Keith’s passing Sarah came back to Fort St John to be close to family.

Sarah was a loving mother and grandmother, founding member of the North Peace Art Group and worked on the Board of Directors of the Fort St John Co-Op. Sarah was a member of the Presbyterian Church and valued her faith throughout her life. She was an avid gardener, distinguished artist, card player and dear friend to many, including her 69 year long friendship to Verla. Her patience, love, and support enriched many lives and touched many hearts.

She leaves behind her children Sue, Ken (Lisa), Ross (Anna), grandchildren Clayton (Krystal), Tyrel, Zeb (Jena), Tara (Mac), Chantel (Chris) and great grandchildren Alexandra, Owen, Quinton, and Zoey.

Sarah was predeceased by her husband Melvin Keith Maloney and her son in law William Baker.

She will be missed by all that had the pleasure to know and love her. Her footsteps can never be filled, nor her love ever forgotten.
