Obituary of Fredrick Allan Kalb
FREDRICK (Fred) ALLAN KALB
1942 – 2025 82 years
It is with profound sadness that the family of Fredrick (Fred) Allan Kalb of Fort St. John announce his passing on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from complications of a stroke.
Fred arrived in Fort St. John with his parents as a five-year-old from St. Walburg, Saskatchewan in 1947 and this has been his home ever since.
He made his living as professional truck driver and one of the first jobs as a driver in his 50+ year career was working on the WAC Bennett Dam.
Fred is survived by his wife Rosolynn, daughter Kelli (Dean Senior), son Michael, sister Rosemary Torgersen (Tellef), brother Bob (Conda), sister-in-law Debra Hawley as well as other family and many friends. He is also survived by his best girl Maddy the dog.
He was predeceased by his infant daughter Emily Ann in 1973, parents Marjorie and Robert Kalb, parents-in-law Ross and Violet Hawley and brother-in-law Ross James (Jim) Hawley.
He liked playing hockey in his youth, all things mechanical, country music, camping, coffee with the guys, apple fritters and taking Maddy for rides. He could fix anything, valued his friends and was a listener rather than a talker.
He loved his kids so much and enjoyed following their careers as a clinical pharmacist (Kelli) and a railroad engineer (Mike).
He also loved to travel around Canada and the US in his RV and was fortunate to see a lot of the world in his time including places like Russia, Scandinavia, western Europe, Central America and more.
Fred leaves us with a legacy of love following a long illness which he bore with strength and grace. We will love him and cherish his memory forever.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Fort St. John Senior's Hall, on Monday, August 25th at 2:00 pm
You are invited to stay for refreshments following the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Fred to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to another charity of your choosing.
