Ivy Sperling

Obituary of Ivy Sperling

Ivy Sperling

July 2, 1932 to June 16, 2025

Ivy was born in Fort St. John, BC and grew up in Cecil Lake.  She was married and raised a family in Baldonnel with Alouis Sperling.  They were part of a large family that grew with cousins, in-laws as well as nieces and nephews.

From humble beginnings, they built a life together farming, gardening, and canning.  Ivy enjoyed baking, painting, and sewing.  Everything was affectionately made by hand and each birthday came with a lovingly crafted cake.

Family was the most important thing to her.  Ivy was hard working, nurturing, and an ever-gracious host to anyone that came to visit.  There was always baking to be shared along with a measure of laughter. No one left hungry, especially her grandchildren!

She had a gentle grace about her and even when health was failing, those that knew her and that cared for her in hospital said she was an elegant lady and enjoyed her company.  She never lost her humour and wit to make someone smile.

Ivy was predeceased by her husband Alouis. Parents Mike and Bertha Scheck. Sister Margaret Roder.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughters Caroline Sperling (Gary Lowery), and Annette Sperling (Jim Lavigne), grandchildren Elizabeth, Ryan (Rachelle), Erica (Daniel) and Travis. Great-grandchildren Lillian, Bernice and Alice.

In lieu of flowers, Ivy's family has asked that donations be made in her memory to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation. If you would like to make a contribution, please click here.
