Brian William Simpson

1962 ~ 2025

Brian William Simpson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, died on May 30th 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Brian was born on March 29th, 1962 to his loving parents Bill and Doreen Simpson in Fort St John, BC. He grew up on his parents’ farm in South Taylor, BC, with his 9 beautiful sisters (Moira, Sheena, Pamela, Patsy, Darlene, Sherry, Sandra, Colleen and Judy).

Brian was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Joni, a loving father to his daughter Miranda and his son-in-law Mitch, and an absolute doting grandfather to his grand-daughters Maddie and Marisa. The girls brought their “Papa” immeasurable joy and pride to his life!

Brian was famously known as “Captain Loomis”, rightfully so after travelling over 8 million kms to Fort Nelson and back to Fort St John for over 30 years, without a speeding ticket or accident in all that time! He was an extremely dedicated employee and he worked with Loomis hauling freight for a total of 39 years.

Brian valued friendship like no other, and had several life long, close friends. He was a pillar of strength and support to many, an incredibly caring and generous person, hard working and dedicated, and he was one of the funniest guys around. He had a passion for quadding, camping and fishing, riding his motorcycle, photography, and of course, singing karaoke. He was a talented singer and hosted many great nights in his legendary Dawg shed, always with the Budweiser flowing. One of his favourite places in the world was at Pink Mountain, BC where he loved to go camping with his family, especially the time he helped his grand-daughters catch their very first fish, a memory we will always treasure.

Brian will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honour of having him in their lives.  Though he is no longer with us in person, his legacy will live on through the cherished memories we all hold dearly in our hearts, and through the unwavering love he shared with his family and friends. Rest easy sweet Papa Bear.
